Care Instructions
Gold-filled items are water safe. For gold vermeil, keep away from water, moisture, and liquid cosmetics. Especially avoid contact with alcohol based products such as perfume. Whenever you need, use the soft cloth provided (it’s chemical free) to wipe and polish. Store in your Goldscoop Pouch to protect from humidity, dust and oxidation from old jewellery.
Our aim is to provide high-quality and affordable demi-fine and fashion jewellery. As such we make jewellery in 18k Gold Vermeil as well as 18k Gold Plate. Learn the difference between the two categories below.
18k Gold Vermeil
Describes jewellery which is .925 Sterling Silver (the highest quality sterling silver) plated with a thick 1.5 micron layer of 18k gold. It belongs to the category of demi-fine jewellery as it's comprised entirely of precious metals while still being more affordable than solid gold jewellery. Gold Vermeil is not only beautiful but very high quality and you can expect your pieces to last for years with proper care. We plate all of our Gold Vermeil pieces by hand in-house using 18k Gold sourced from the USA.
18k Gold Plated
Describes fashion jewellery which is plated at least 1.5 microns onto a base metal such as brass. A plating thickness of 1.5 microns enables affordable retail pricing while also ensuring extended wear. To be legally considered "gold plated", base metals must be plated at minimum 1.0 microns.
How to Care for Your Jewellery
For both 18k Gold Vermeil and 18k Gold Plated pieces, to keep the gold plating on your jewellery last as long as possible, we highly recommend following our care instructions found here.
